My son and I were driving to feed the cats and I said something like "spork" and he said "Oh that's a poor man's term". I said "What?" He said "like when you combine two terms". Me "Portmanteau?"

The election has been so depressing that it’s hard to get up in the morning. This morning I was awakened by a cat being hit by a car. As a cat lover I went outside in my nightgown and we found the cat badly injured but not dead.

I tried my best to console him and my heart ached for him. As I was going home I realized that he is on the other side politically speaking, but he is a human being and I care what happens to him. No matter who wins or loses I hope humanity wins in the end.

Then I realized the cat belongs to a neighbor and ran to get him.
He is a big tough man but he cried like a baby at the sight of his injured cat. We brought a towel and he had something to lift the cat to carry him.
