Dante, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.D. Salinger, C.S.Lewis… all “wrote poetry” while fighting in wars. In fact, it will be inconceivable to speak of literature without warrior poets. #CultureCare path endures, #CultureWars rhetoric will make one say things that “shoot yourself in the foot”
A warrior poet is a stronger man than a dumbass former coach

Currently writing a research paper on Spanish architect, Antoni Gaudí. Refreshing to read about a famous artist who was genuinely a good dude AND NOT A WOMAN ABUSER… *cough, cough* Picasso

The decline of shared standards of taste in the arts has not, contrary to expectation, resulted in a new freedom to "like whatever you like" but rather a strong tendency for people to admire only what others already admire. Absent shared standards, there is only hype.

Perhaps it’s not so much ironic as it is emblematic. This brings us back to the condition the first evangelicals sought to redress by emphasizing genuine conversion over cultural Christianity, authentic faith over borrowed belief, and honest truth over institutional power.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give to young writers, or to anyone really, is to firmly shrug off the well-meaning expectations of good people. You know how to reject the bad. It is rejecting the “good”—when that good wishes you to be nice, tame, or easy—that is hard.
