Just finished ⁦@BBCRosAtkins⁩ brilliant book. Us architects think we’re really good at presentation/explanation - but we clearly have a lot to learn. Ros traces his thinking from student days, so it’s also a great illustration of the development of expertise.

In the last few days, I've read inspiring books by @jake_fiennes @guyshrubsole re-read @natchjourneyman 's. Our natural & built environments require much healing I'm left feeling more optimistic with a stronger desire to help. Thank you.

The House of Theseus 'At the heart of the question is the issue of authenticity and the fact that most of us tend to prefer anything original over the fake or the artifical'. My little bit for this month's splendid @sherbornetimes
Studying a little bit of lost Chester today. It's shocking just how much has been lost in a single lifetime - mostly as a consequence of the motorcar. That thing that we now need to banish from our city centres so they can become comfortable places for more people to live.

Good day for a survey of this 400 year old mill on the banks of the Dee. Machinery still intact from its last use in the 1960's.

If you’re looking for inspiration @ShitChester
If you're looking for inspiration, see @AtmosTotnes and their campaign for a community-led development (hotel, training resource, facilities for young people, retirement homes, a microbrewery and much more) of a brownfield site. All led by, and for the benefit of local people.

I keep a page of 12 mug shots in the back of my notebook. It's partly for inspiration and it's partly a 'don't give up yet' strategy. It changes a little over time but this is what it currently looks like. 1/3

@austinkleon said (in Steal Like an Artist): "I hang pictures of my favourite artists in my studio...I can almost feel them pushing me forward as I'm hunched over my desk". It's sort of like that. Except I don't keep pictures of my favourite architects. 2/3

Some are there because they've remained creative and productive for a lifetime. Others can do things I can't but would like to. Others for being different or bringing something fresh. Or because they keep going despite the crap they receive. Thanks to all. 3/3
