Mid 19c Irish barristers, particularly on the Connaught Circuit, still continued to challenge one another to duels when 'anger or resentment or real or fancied insult blinded their judgment.' However, as the risk of prosecution for the survivor increased, so did the likelihood of these challenges ending peaceably. Read about some such incidents, recorded by George Orme Malley QC in his article 'Anecdotes of the Connaught Circuit', here.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph this famous Donegal landmark at night for the first time. As I was nearby and the statistics showed that the Land of Aurora could be visible, I couldn't pass up such an opportunity.
