Me: Now you just have to draw what you did. Student draws two groups of base ten pieces then erases the tens in one group and draws them with the other group. He looks at me and says, “Now I have to do this with the ones.” And he did. Brilliant!
I was talking to a student about math. Another student asks, “is that your mother?” First student replies “No, she’s too old!” I just started laughing.
In a reflection on low floor/high ceiling tasks someone wrote that the teacher’s role “is helping expand their(the student’s)ceiling while actively observing and listening.”
