How to file a police complaint and get a case number in Nigeria without a lawyer. The exact steps most Nigerians don’t know. Before You Go Write everything down. Dates. Names. Locations. What happened. Bring evidence. Screenshots. Photos. Medical reports. Witnesses. Prepared people are harder to dismiss. Step 1 — Go To The Right Station Report at the police station in the division where the crime happened. Under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 police are legally obligated to receive every complaint brought to them. Turning you away is a violation of the law. Not an option. Step 2 — Ask For The Duty Officer Specifically Walk to the counter. Say clearly — “I am here to make a formal complaint. I need it recorded in the Crime Diary.” Those exact words signal that you know your rights. Watch how the energy shifts immediately. Step 3 — Make Your Statement State the facts clearly. No emotion. No exaggeration. Sign your statement. Request a copy immediately. Under the ACJA — you are legally entitled to a copy of your own statement. Step 4 — Demand Your Case Number Ask directly — “What is my case number?” Write it down. Photograph it. That number is proof your complaint legally exists. Without it — you were never there. Step 5 — If They Demand Money Stay calm. Ask for the officer’s name and badge number. Write it down where they can see you. Then report to: Police Service Commission — psc.gov.ng National Human Rights Commission — nihrcommission.gov.ng Commissioner of Police of your state One report with a name and badge number moves mountains. Under Section 4 of the Police Act 2020 receiving your complaint is not a favour. It is their legal duty. You are not begging. You are exercising a right. © Damian Dondo

Sometimes, the bottle neck is not people in political office. It might just be the system that had been long in existence which breeds CORRUPTION. Your actions to resolve the matter was possible cos of your connection. What about the ordinary Nigerian who no get that connect!
1. My son, currently in 400 Level Medicine and Surgery scored 333 in JAMB but his name did not even APPEAR on the Admission List. I was later told by the Institution that, my son could be offered Micro Biology. I told the Registrar of the institution POINT BLANK that, "I have spent HUGELY (Several Millions of Naira) to get my Son to this Point of Entry (PoE) to become a Medical Doctor and not to become a Biology Teacher through her offer of Micro Biology. This Registrar was so MEAN. She simply told me, we are very sorry, Micro Biology is the BEST we can OFFER your son. 2. At this Juncture, I proceeded to JAMB Headquarters, Abuja to meet with Prof. Oloyede who swiftly asked for my son's JAMB details, punched these details into his laptop and everything concerning the university came up on his screen. 3. Prof. Oloyede said and I quote: "Dr. Muyiwa Kayode, please go back home and sleep with your two eyes closed. From what I am seeing on my screen, your son is No.3 on the List of Medicine and Surgery of this institution with a JAMB SCORE of 333 which comes behind two other JAMB scores of 348 & 334 respectively. Unfortunately, none of these chaps, including your Son (i.e JAMB Score 348, 334 and 333) made the Admission List" 4. Prof. Oloyede continued and I quote: "Dr. Muyiwa Kayode, in SANE countries, this Institution should have sent the College Driver with an official vehicle to go and fetch your son from Ekiti to campus having projected himself into the MERIT LIST of this Institution but unfortunately, the endemic corruption in these institutions will just not allow them to follow Due Process" 5. Right in my presence, Prof. Oloyede put a call through to the Vice Chancellor of this Institution, setting his phone on speaker and spoke angrily at the Vice Chancellor, lamenting on the endemic corruption under his nose as it concerns university admission. This Vice Chancellor apologized to Prof. Oloyede saying what has just happened must have been an ERROR of OVERSIGHT on the part of his Management Team & promised Prof. Oloyede that he will personally ensure the Error of Oversight is corrected. 6. Within 24 hrs of that conversation between Prof. Oloyede and the Vice Chancellor, my son checked the university's Admission Portal and discovered his name has been INCLUDED as Number Three on the admission list while the names of the other chaps that scored 348 & 334 also appeared on the admission list as Number One and Number Two respectively. 7. The good news in all of these is that, my son that would have been CRIMINALLY denied admission ab-initio now TOPS his class with a G.P.A of 4.85 This is neither Federal nor State government doing... Every sector of the economy in Nigeria is corrupt. Photo: Prof Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board ( JAMB )

I have just learned that Engr Dave Umahi, Minister for Works, has nominated his son, Osborne Nweze Umahi, to become the Local Government Chairman of Ohaozara LGA, in 2026. Already, Engr Umahi, currently the political godfather of Ebonyi state, is prepping his son, who merely graduated from school in 2019, and is 27 years old, for the Governorship position in the state. Chai!💔✍️

Last weekend, while driving to Epe, I came across a road accident that had just happened. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control after a tyre burst. Within seconds, the car swerved, somersaulted, and landed upside down, trapping the passengers inside. People nearby didn’t hesitate. Strangers rushed in immediately. With bare hands and urgency, they flipped the vehicle and helped the passengers out. Thankfully, there were no fatalities, but the injuries were obvious. Pain was written all over their faces. The front-seat passenger had a deep cut, blood running down his face. When I arrived, one question came to mind: has anyone called an ambulance? I asked. One man, busy taking photos, replied sarcastically,
“Ambulance ke? That kind thing dey work for this country?” That statement said a lot. It wasn’t just sarcasm; it was deep mistrust—years of disappointment and silence born from systems that have failed people repeatedly. And honestly, I don’t blame him. When institutions fail consistently, hope becomes a luxury. Our national orientation has not done enough to rebuild trust or remind citizens of what actually works. I walked back to my car, brought out my phone, and dialed 112, the Lagos State emergency number. The lady on the other end was calm and professional. She asked about the accident, the location, the number of victims, and my details. I provided everything. Before ending the call, she said words that mattered:
“Help is on the way.” I returned to the scene and informed the injured passengers. Despite the pain, I saw relief on their faces. Hope. In my mind, I estimated 20 to 30 minutes. But something unexpected happened. In less than five minutes, the emergency response team arrived. Sirens. Professionals. Speed. Efficiency. Even me—an optimist—I was shocked. I didn’t even realize when I shouted,
“Ah! Eko o ni baje o!” In that moment, one thing was clear: Lagos is making progress. It may not be perfect, and there is still a lot to fix. I criticize this city constructively on my platform because I care. But when something works, when lives are saved, when systems respond, we must also be honest enough to acknowledge it. Eko o ni baje lai lai.

Hello, Our country is not broken by a lack of critics. It is waiting for a surplus of builders. Our communities are not waiting for a savior. They are waiting for you, with your ready hands to fix the broken thing in front of you. Imagine a nation where the mechanic, the teacher, the farmer, the nurse, the civil servant, all decide to show up this way. With ready hands, hearts, and minds. Doing their part, not for show, but for the silent, superb excellence of the work itself. Corruption cannot thrive where such people stand. Poverty retreats before such energy. Despair cannot breathe in an atmosphere of such purposeful action. We do not need a miracle. We need a decision. A decision to be ready. So, today, choose your work. Master it. Pour your energy into purpose. Do it well. Do it with integrity. Do it for the person next to you. Become the man, the woman, of ready hands, heart, and brain. And watch, as you lift yourself, you will find you are also lifting your street, your village, your country. Success will come searching for a nation built by such people.

The whole Palaver is just disheartening. A Senator not knowing how to handle is family affairs. That nonsense story is just too watery for my liking. If anyone ask the other wives, do you think they will support Regina. Speak against Ned & lose your benefits. My opinion
Regina Nwoko has accused Senator Ned Nwoko of domestic violence. Senator Nwoko has denied the allegation, claiming instead that Regina abuses substances and needs rehabilitation. How do we ascertain the truth? A drug test should be conducted on Regina, while the other wives of Senator Nwoko should be interviewed to determine the truth or otherwise of the allegations of domestic violence against him. Personally, I hold the preliminary opinion that Regina wants to be treated as a “baby girl” by Ned, while Ned believes that the money and luxurious lifestyle he provides for Regina and his other wives are more than enough. Whatever the case, we are all responsible for the consequences of our choices. This applies equally to both Ned and Regina. 'Tonye Barcanista
