Wigtown! Scotland’s National Booktown - what a lovely place to visit. Though I may have depleted its stocks somewhat over these last few days 📖@WigtownBookFest
Had a most excellent day (and night) at Greenwich Comedy Festival. Personal highlights @Iansmithcomedy Sindhu Vee @RachelFairburn @ThatGledhill (and the toastie stand)
A real treat to see @RosalieMinnitt ‘s Clementine @sohotheatre tonight. She’s a one-woman, mood-board-and-sword-brandishing tour-de-force - I may need to lie down (which is fine, because as Jane Austen taught us, fainting is always ok 💫 )
Ended this year’s fringe on a real high last night with @AdamRichesLive ‘s Jimmy. Superb show - how he’s had the energy to do this every night of the festival I have no idea. 5 ⭐️
Another theatre shoutout: for The Sun, The Mountain, and Me @FollowTheCow - a beautiful one-man show exploring artistic ambition and its costs (and I believe there’s still one performance left tomorrow!) #edfringe24
A play of the day for a change today: @BoxTaleSoup ‘s take on Gulliver’s Travels @ThePleasance . I loved this just as much as last year’s Casting the Runes - go for the puppets, stay for the shanties
My #edfringe24 comedy highlight today: @laurenpattison , who may (possibly) have inspired me to put on my big girl pants and belatedly learn to drive @BarrelComedy
Today’s #edfringe comedy highlight for me was @LiamFarrelly9 ‘s Flipbook @StandComedyClub. All the ups and downs (more ups) of becoming a pretty young dad, and I learnt some things about sheds and guinea pigs (thank you).
I’m super excited that one of my stories will be read at the next @liarsleague event in London, next Tues 2 April. If you like #shortstories (and pubs) please check out the event info below - it’s always a really fun evening, with some brilliant writers and actors 📚
…And finally, John Robins superb show Howl. His struggles with a slotted spoon (and much bigger things) had me in tears of various sorts @Justthetonic shortly after this unintentionally eerie mic pic was taken.
And then there was Adults at @traversetheatre - Kieran Hurley’s darkly comic social drama, taking in cost-of-living, generational divides and sex work, that lingered long after the lights came on
I’ve left #edfringe for many hours of trains (8?9? who knows) so a good time to ramble on with some more highlights. First up, Black Is The Colour of my voice (@bitcomv) - power and pain combined in a brilliant performance by Apphia Campbell
