On this date in 1990, what would become known as the Hesston tornado took place. This violent tornado was rated an F5 and damaged 226 homes and 21 businesses in the town of Hesston. Sadly, 2 individuals were killed by the tornado.

36 yrs ago today I witnessed my first tornado, 3/13/90. Pic taken near Castleton, KS around 435 pm. About an hour later it would roar thru Hesston as an F5! Still ranks #1 of the dozen tornadoes I’ve seen. #HesstonTornado #kswx

Last night, storms produced hail in north central Oklahoma, with a photo of a hail stone estimated to be 3.75" near Morrison. This would set a record for the largest hail recorded in the month of November in Oklahoma (previous largest was 2.75", most recently in 2003 in Tulsa).

On this date back in 2012, one of the last tornado outbreaks to affect Central and South Central KS took place. 85 tornadoes were reported with this event, with the strongest being an EF-4 that struck south of Kanopolis Lake. An EF-3 also hit southeast portions of Wichita #kswx
