The Traffic Assistants Scheme , which involved the recruitment of 42 Transmen and Transwomen into the Hyderabad Traffic Police branch as part of the State Government and Hon’ble CM's policy to integrate them into society rather than labelling them as undesirable elements and treating them differently, is completing one year of its functioning. The experience has been quite remarkable and successful , with not a single complaint being received and they doing their jobs perfectly . Now with their introduction in the Metro Rail organisation, it is set for expansion in GHMC, and other district units of the police department. It has been satisfying to be associated with this scheme and understanding transgenders better.
