On another note - I lived in the *literal* middle of nowhere growing up. The only way I could connect with my school friends was via social media. How are kids in these isolated communities meant to function?

My son has his perfectly algorithmic phonics and number blocks etc on YT kids and we simply limit the time he spends using it. The school sends us these YT vids weekly, mind you.

I think our elders didn’t do a good job at modeling how friendship changes from adolescence/young adulthood to 30s and beyond. A lot of us think friendships are supposed to look & feel like they did when we were in high-school & college. & thats just not realistic.

I very much agree with this and I actually painfully pulled out of Palantir for similar reasons.
But as an S&P500 & other US company index investor I also can’t get toooo self righteous about proper ethical investing.

He is about to raise $75 billion at a pure fantasy valuation. Literally getting the money he has been aiming to get for 20 years to supposedly achieve his dream of making life multi-planetary, and instead of celebrating, he is spending his time tweeting racist shit non-stop.
The fact that people are not only OK with that but they are like "take my money" will forever be cringe. I have no respect for anyone who ignores his racist diatribe to try to make a few bucks speculating.

Some of these jobs are actually bs (which I think is actually needed in a properly functioning society & economy) but this is so true.
People often don’t account for compounding knowledge / experience over time.
It's easy to call these jobs bullshit, but many of them are not. A major reason why these people aren't working so hard is that knowledge compounds. So they can do things in one day that would've taken a lesser team days or weeks to do. Others are also paid for a specialty task
