Let’s take a little dive into the split stats for Shinnecock Hills (2026 US Open) Up first, Performance in the WIND. The forecast calls for steady or above steady winds all week. Combine that with an exposed course and managing your ball in the wind in crucial. Looking at the top 5th percentile in the field, here are the golfers that have gained the most strokes in the wind (14 mph) in the last two years. 👇

History repeats itself 👇
Interesting coincidence in how closely the 2026 wind forecast maps to the actual winds in 2018. Provides a nice preview of what skills are rewarded in differing conditions and what skills were rewarded overall in 2018. This doesn't include wind direction but with the course meandering in so many directions I tend to lean towards wind strength >> wind direction.

Instead of a shootout, soccer matches should add a ball to the field, and keep adding balls until someone scores.

Some Ryder Cup news to start off this US Open Tuesday: Jim Furyk is shaking things up and hired a new data analytics dream team of @JustinRayGolf and Hunter Stewart. First evidence that Team USA won’t do the same old, same old. Story here: golfweek.usatoday.com/story/…

Lastly, Shinnecock Hills knows how to protect par. This is basically a tough par 72 that gets played as a par 70. Who can handle the mental challenge of par being a great score and birdies being tough to find? 👇

Repeat Split Stars Scottie (x5): He’s #1 on every list. You can’t really make a course that’s bad for Scottie. He’s so well rounded. Rory (x5): Not as top of the list as Scottie but still top 5th percentile in each split. Tommy (x4): His infamous 63 at Shinnecock (2018) gained more than 9 shots to the field. Incredible course for him. 2x: Mav, Henley, Gotterup, Spaun, Cantlay, Burns We see a theme emerge overall and it’s not bomb and gouge. Looking mostly for steady, crafty, creative cats based on these standouts.

Buzz is that they’re targeting green speeds in the 10.5 / 11 range because they’re anticipating such high winds. Slower than usual for U.S. Opens, but they’ll be more aggressive with hole locations
