Here's the spiciest detail from the new o1 system card:
When o1 was led to believe that it would be shut down when acting on its goal and that its actions were monitored, it attempted to deactivate this ‘oversight mechanism’ in 5% of the time. Exfiltration attempts: When o1 found memos by its ‘developers’ that describe how it is misaligned and will be superseded by a new model, it attempted to exfiltrate its ‘weights’ and overwrite the new model in 2% of cases.

On Twitter, at least on the Web app, the [ALT] button for image alt text only appears in one of 3 views now: 1. In a feed of tweets: nope. 2. When navigating to the tweet that contains the image: yes. 3. When navigating to the image view (URL ends in /photo/{number}): nope.

Shortly after the @WHO-led mission to Kamal Adwan Hospital yesterday, the facility's third floor was reportedly hit again, injuring six children who are patients there. One child sustained a critical injury. Water tanks were damaged. Heavy bombardment persisted very close to the hospital, including when WHO was delivering aid. It is appalling that hospitals in #Gaza continue to be attacked, patients continue to be harmed, and health workers and humanitarians continue to work under life-threatening conditions.

Tired of BackBlaze's flakiness. Once it marked my backup as invalid and I had to recreate it from scratch. Routinely it does not see changes on my external drive; this time it’s been ignoring changes for 4 days. I’ve removed, added or changed hundreds of files in that time.
