Today, our guild members sat down with Fort Worth Report management for our first official bargaining session. The meeting was a constructive starting point toward negotiating a contract that protects both our members and the integrity of our journalism.

Today, the Fort Worth Report’s usual planning meeting was replaced with an unannounced, closed-door, hour-long captive-audience meeting between staff, interns, and a “labor relations educator” named Elizabeth Hernandez, whom we’ve never met. Management and editors left the room.
