It is clear that disabled people across Canada continue to be cast aside, neglected, and pushed into deeper poverty by both the Federal and Provincial Governments. About 500,000 people are current beneficiaries of the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). The Federal Government stated in their recent budget announcement that they intend to provide 600,000 people — approximately 38% of disabled people in Canada — with an extra $200 per month. This is about six dollars extra per day, which still leaves disabled Canadians and Ontarians below the poverty line and does not account for current costs of living. Â
