Today will go down as the craziest weather day I have ever covered in my home state. Gambled east in the open warm sector / modifying outflow regime ahead of the PFT/cold front and it paid off in the form of numerous large, damaging, but photogenic tornadoes in central Illinois.

Going to take a minute to process today. 8 tornadoes, most of which were violent. Ended the chase performing search and rescue and thankfully pulled 4 individuals out who were unharmed despite their mobile home being blown off the foundation above them. All the emotions right now.

Gamble paid off. Stationary storms. Two very close attempts at tornado genesis, and the best structure I’ve seen in years. Literal tears, guys. This was way more than a storm for me. This was redemption.
