We have a deal!

We support the action of trade unions for socially responsible public procurement focused on people and quality jobs. It is unacceptable that public money continues to fuel exploitation. Instead, it must ensure good working conditions and support companies that respect collective agreements. My worst fear is materialising. The EU Council has quietly taken control of the competitiveness agenda, doubling down on deregulation as the privileged strategy, with little fanfare, and conveniently shielded by the geopolitical crisis. No draft single market roadmap has been shared with Parliament. Instead, leaders received an aide-mémoire, another informal non-binding document, another opportunity for capitals to steer the direction themselves and bypassing the EU institutions and procedural integrity. Von der Leyen promised joint ownership with Parliament and Council back in February. That promise hasn’t materialised. A draft may come in April. Or not. Metsola warned leaders today that Parliament will “never be a rubber stamp.” Yet as she seeks a third mandate as parliament president she’s conflicted and obeys to EUCO’s orders. Heute im AFCO hat EVP wieder zusammen mit Patrioten, ESN, EKR gegen Bericht zu Grundrechten gestimmt, obwohl sie vorher zusammen mit Plattform zentrale Kompromisse verhandelt haben. In einigen Ausschüssen ist die demokratische Plattform in der Mitte tot, weil EVP mit Rechts geht

Merz reagiert sehr harsch auf den EVP-Chat-Skandal und regt personelle Konsequenzen an: „Wir missbilligen das, was da auf Ebene von Mitarbeitern stattgefunden hat. Wir erwarten, dass das abgestellt wird und gegebenenfalls auch Konsequenzen hat.“ Weber trage „die Verantwortung.“
