A strike on the Lavra is like a strike on Notre-Dame
“Last night, Russia once again demonstrated its brutality by launching a massive attack on Kyiv and causing extremely serious damage to the Assumption Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site,” said Jean-Noël Barrot.
“For us French people, this is equivalent to the bombing of Notre-Dame de Paris or the Basilica of Saint-Denis,” he added.

The Dovzhenko film studio in Kyiv is one of the oldest centers of world cinema. Established in 1927, it’s where Dziga Vertov, Sergey Paradzhanov and obviously Oleksandr Dovzhenko shot some of their masterpieces. It survived WWII because its collection was evacuated to Central Asia before the Nazi takeover. This morning, it was hit by Russian missiles. The entire collection of 100,000 costumes going back nearly a century burned down. Other priceless artifacts gone, too.

First, Ukraine and Moldova will take their biggest step since the decision to start EU accession negotiations in 2023.
We will also close two more chapters with Montenegro, bringing it close to half of all chapters closed.
