I’m old school. Yes, we have 3DSMax, Blender, AutoCAD, Maya, Adobe & more––but before that process––the feel of a pencil, the scribble of a note, the ponder of: does that work? How do I to get from A to B? what happens if? What does history tell us about naval ship design?

Rogue Klingon Forces in three D12 Bird of Prey's attempt to ignite a fight with the Federation by attacking USS GALAXY, as the Klingon Civil War wraps up. GALAXY, authorised to defend itself, receives little damage, eliminating the ships with superior firepower.

Authors note: these Klingons cannot return to the Empire after the exposure of the Romulan Plot to destroy the FED-KL alliance so they opt to ‘go out in a honourable blaze of glory.’ Note the D12 model is decommissioned and no match for a Flagship class starship. 😉

TNG fans, myself included back in the 2000s, had already rewrote in scripts through fan fiction and art of the ENTD being saved, and featuring in the TNG movies. VFX artists now have the technology to ‘make things right’ by bringing them to life. It’s not new.

I’ll fight to get this published but a legal disagreement could cause me issues in my private career so I will explore alternatives. Of course, we all know ‘fan’ stuff sits in nebulous legal grounds because lawyers are vampires & licence holders misunderstand their fan base.
One day we can but hope I can share/publish:

To refresh the Galaxy class, something already in the class in-service pathway anyway, the battle over Verdian III means ENT D gets a refit prior to First Contact.
No need for a new ship for the ‘big screen’.
For many every time they saw the 'E' they replaced it in there head with the 'D'. JTVFX has modelled what so many have been saying for so long: the destruction of the ENTD was one of the worst decisions in the franchise and TNG was loosing its way through the big screen.

It would have been far more impactful if Picard refused to blow up ENTD. The audience would have felt it much more. Who cares about a ship you’ve seen for barely a minute screen time versus one of seven seasons meeting her nemesis again…

A firmware update to the fire control system in the saucer and stardrive computer controls results in additional modes for torpedo launch systems across all Galaxy Class. This includes rapid fire, variable spread and simultaneous tube, fore and aft combinations.

I think it was a close as they were going to get with the time and budget they had. Flaws were really for the nit pickers who truly care but end of the day options were limited for the hole the franchise was in.

UFP President Executive Order comes into effect: ‘GALAXY name withdrawn from available names of future starships, and GALAXY to Join ENTD as ‘In Reserve’ status rather than ‘inactive’, in recognition of their service to the UFP.’

Authors note: reminder I selectively pick things produced after ‘All Good Things’ to try & maintain some form of consistency. Therefore reluctant to canonise PIC in GCP verse. For the eagle eyed Akira and Nebula class at the archive were put into a fleet scrapyard to make space.
