Not only is @RoKhanna evil, he can't do math. Leave aside that @elonmusk has already paid more taxes than anyone else in human history, reinvented the electric car industry, sends rockets into space (and brings them back), gave us Starlink internet... The math here is off by many orders of magnitude. 4 years of undergraduate tuition for all current undergraduate students at 4-year institutions would exceed the cost all Elon's net worth. A 5% tax on Elon assets would not fund this. You'd do it once and the money would be gone and - no - that's not even close to worth it. Put another way, Elon Musk having this wealth - because he's created far more for society - means it'll be allocated better than if it were taken and given to you to spend. Besides Elon could not liquidate all his assets and realize a trillion dollars. If he were allowed to just start dumping SpaceX stock the price would plummet. I do not agree withMusk's obsession with many things, I dislike his race tweets, but he's clearly created far more value for the world than @RoKhanna.
Brad, a 5% tax on Elon's trillion net worth would literally pay for free college and trade school for every American. And with the market's growth, he still would be worth over a trillion dollars! You don't think that's worth it?
Community note
5% of $1.2T is $60b. 8m students in BA/BS programs on average pay over $20k/yr, or ~$160b/yr for BA/BS degrees only. That tax could not cover even half of only US bachelor degree costs for just 1 year, excluding grad, ass., or trade degrees totaling another ~10m students. nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/i… bestcolleges.com/research/colle…

He said he was just trying to pick up a piece of paper off the men's room floor. Which from the perspective of a germaphobe may have been worse?

Thaddeus McCotter said it better. "The recent event's totality of calumnies, indignities and deceits have weighed most heavily upon my family. Thus, acutely aware one cannot rebuild their hearth of home amongst the ruins of their U.S. House office, for the sake of my loved ones I must "strike another match, go start anew" by embracing the promotion back from public servant to sovereign citizen."
Headed back to the private sector at the end of this term, as the Founders intended. When I ran in 2020 I said I'd only serve 3 terms and my time is up. It's truly been an immense honor and I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
