Today, we're introducing Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, two configurations of our next major language model.
I'd normally highlight the numbers: It's SOTA on nearly all benchmarks. I want to talk about something else, because with Fable 5 out in the world, I think a third era quietly started today.
I lead Claude Code & Cowork on the desktop, so I think a lot about how people use AI to get work done. I believe we're about to see a major shift, moving from giving AI tasks to giving it responsibilities.

Stablecoin supply across African markets just crossed $8.2B in Q1 2026, up 340% from last year.
Ghana's regulatory sandbox cleared 12 licensed operators. Kenya's M-Pesa approved USDC integration. Nigeria's SEC finalized VASP guidelines.
The infrastructure that took 5 years to build in developed markets is getting deployed in 18 months across African corridors because regulators are moving faster than anyone expected.
Licensed stablecoin on-ramps can now touch traditional banking rails directly. Cross-border settlements that took 3-5 days through correspondent banking clear in minutes through compliant crypto rails.
The regulatory clarity creates the moat. Unlicensed operators can't access the same settlement speed without taking regulatory risk that kills institutional partnerships before they start.
African stablecoin adoption isn't happening despite regulation. It's happening because of it.
