Lithuania has long advocated for this moment and firmly believes that your future is in the European Union. We will continue to support your path all the way to full membership!

I congratulate the U.S., led by President @realDonaldTrump, and Iran on the memorandum of understanding. This is an important diplomatic breakthrough marking an opportunity to restore regional stability, protect freedom of navigation, and stabilize the global economy. Lithuania is ready to support efforts to reach and implement a final agreement.

There is nothing sacred to the aggressor. In Russia's attacks on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, one of the holiest Orthodox sanctuaries, we see an insane disregard for human lives, cultural heritage, and the very spiritual tradition that Russia claims as its own. It is high time to increase international pressure on Russia to end this war!

Respect to UK Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer for ordering the seizure of a Russian shadow‑fleet tanker in the English Channel. Well done, @RoyalMarines, for successfully carrying out the operation today! Another important step in cutting off funding for Russia’s war against Ukraine.

An important international football event — also in Vilnius! The traditional charity tournament, the Ambassadors’ Cup, has brought together 20 teams representing countries from around the world — united by a shared responsibility for future generations. I warmly thank the organisers — the charity foundation Help Street Children, @PLinLithuania, all the participating embassies, and everyone contributing to broadening children’s access to sport and mass participation.

Congratulations to the Ukraine Centre on its 4th anniversary! Founded by my dear wife Diana and First Lady of Ukraine @ZelenskaUA, the Centre has become a place of support, learning, community and hope for Ukrainians in LT. It also contributes to strengthening Ukraine’s civil society and advancing its path towards the European Union.

In preparation to the next EUCO, had a productive conversation with @eucopresident António Costa. Lithuania strongly supports opening the first negotiation cluster with Ukraine and Moldova by June 15, as well as using the new MFF to bolster the EU eastern flank. On the EU competitiveness, we call for greater diversification and strengthening partnerships with the U.S. & other like-minded countries.

Today, Diana and I attended the Mass celebrated by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. Gaudí’s extraordinary language of beauty powerfully expresses the essence of the Christian faith. The Sagrada Família — the fruit of Gaudí’s faith and genius — conveys a message that is profoundly relevant to our times as well.

Met with Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited to Lithuania. We discussed EU security, competitiveness, and enlargement. The EU must stay united and strong in the face of security challenges. Russia’s hybrid pressure on Europe continues and demands a firm, coordinated response. Europe must also unlock its competitiveness – by strengthening the Single Market, advancing capital markets integration, and reducing barriers to investment. Enlargement remains a strategic priority. Ukraine, Moldova, and the Western Balkans belong firmly on the EU path, based on merit and reforms. Lithuania is preparing for its 2027 EU Council Presidency – and remains committed to a stronger, more resilient Europe.

Congratulations to @NikolPashinyan on your electoral victory. The people of Armenia have made a clear choice in favour of democratic resilience, stability, and a European direction for the country. We stand with Armenia on its path towards closer cooperation with the European Union and a more secure and prosperous future.

Together with the Grand Master Fra’ John T. Dunlap of the Sovereign @OrderofMalta, visited the Malteser Initiatives Village in Vilnius. My dear wife, Diana, has long been a dedicated supporter of Malteser initiatives, and we are both grateful for the extraordinary work carried out by volunteers across Lithuania. They are a powerful example of service, compassion, and civic solidarity. A strong state begins with strong communities and citizens who choose not to remain indifferent to the challenges faced by others.
