NEW: Huawei, the Chinese telecom blacklisted by the US, is secretly funding cutting-edge research at American universities including Harvard through an independent Washington DC-based foundation. Proud to share my first article for Bloomberg: bloomberg.com/news/articles/… @business

The word 'invasion' was once relegated to the margins of the national debate on immigration, but it is now part of the Republican Party’s mainstream message on the issue. A closer look at the rhetorical shift by @jazmineulloa nytimes.com/2024/04/26/us/po…

I got laid off from @WSJ yesterday. I’m thankful for my time there, and getting the opportunity to grow and learn from many wonderful humans in the newsroom. Please send any interesting opportunities my way! Let’s start anew 🤍

Today was my last day at @wsj. Hard to believe, and hard to write those words. Looking forward to the next adventure.

My last two stories at WSJ ran today: one on Trump/House Republicans and one on milk. Pretty much sums up the last 14.5 years! It was a privilege to work with such talented -- and kind -- colleagues in DC, Chicago and NY.

Julie is one of the most talented reporters I know and a joy to work with. She is a massive loss for us.
I was mid-story when struck down by a corporate layoff. Thank you to @elizacollins1, @benpershing and my wonderful former WSJ coworkers for seeing this one through. Hard to just walk away, even when you’re instructed to do so.

WLRN abruptly cancelled Sundial and let our whole team go. It’s my first time out of work since I was 19. If you’re looking for a journalist with 30 years experience, 2 James Beards, a share of a Pulitzer, experienced in all media, please DM. I'm eager to work again soon.

The news industry suffers every day that @TroyGMcCullough isn't one of the people working to get information to people who want it. He is brilliant and kind, like so many of my former WSJ colleagues, and I had the joy of working with him on two continents.
My 16 years at the WSJ ended this week, but it was a great run that took me from New York to Hong Kong and finally to Washington. For the past 6 years, my DC colleagues inspired and amazed me every single day. Working with them has been an absolute honor.

I couldn't have asked for a better colleague than @ewstephe to manage WSJ's politics coverage a few years back. She is a tremendous talent and will instantly improve any newsroom.
During my first DC internship, the company where I worked closed a newspaper. I’ve been expecting a day like yesterday for 15 years. I loved working with some of the most talented people I know. Hire these folks 👇🏻

My 25 years at The Wall Street Journal ended yesterday, and it was a privilege to have served the last eight in the Washington bureau. I learned so much about how to do good journalism. My passion for news isn't dissipated, and I'm excited to get back to work.
NEW: Major layoffs at the Wall Street Journal’s D.C. bureau yesterday left the newsroom reeling. “This is like dropping a neutron bomb on the newsroom,” said one of the reporters affected. I got the names of most of the journalists who were laid off: politico.com/newsletters/pla…
