I wanted to share an update on how my AI Rig Rentals have been performing and what the roadmap looks like moving forward.
Right now, I’m running a total of eight rigs on Vast. Seven of those are NVIDIA RTX 3090 rigs built with 3900X CPUs, 64GB of memory, 2TB NVMEs, and the usual supporting hardware. Six of the seven are fully verified, while one rig that I rebuilt about two months ago has been renting consistently but still hasn’t passed verification again. If you want to see the fun rig build video, checkout the video here:

The eighth rig is my powerhouse: a 3‑GPU NVIDIA RTX 5090 setup, with an EPIC CPU and 256 GB of Memory, that has easily become my top earner! During the recent PEARL project hype, it was pulling in between $1.00 and $1.50 per hour per GPU, and even before that it was consistently around $0.90 per GPU per hour. This rig has plenty of room to grow, and that’s exactly the plan. If you want to see the full build, the video is here:

Looking ahead, I’m planning to sell off all of the RTX 3090s individually since they’re currently going for over $1100 each on eBay. I’ll also be selling the 64GB RAM kits and the 2TB NVMEs from those rigs. After that, I’ll convert the single‑GPU systems into more budget‑friendly builds using SSDs, lower‑end memory, and either an RTX 3060 or 3070, then list those complete rigs locally on Facebook Marketplace.
The profits from all of this will be rolled directly into expanding my 5090 fleet. In fact, I just picked up a Zotac RTX 5090 last week and plan to install it into the 3‑card rig later this week, turning it into an even stronger performer.
Overall, AI GPU rentals on
@vast_ai have been fantastic, providing consistent weekly income and proving to be a solid part of my broader hardware strategy. A big shoutout goes to
@gpuautopilot platform has made managing pricing, monitoring performance, and keeping rigs rented so much easier by staying competitive automatically. Go check it out and use code HOBBYIST100 for 1 Month Free!
