My third game of Day 1 at the
@PrepHoops #UpperMidwestFinals turned into an absolute war between MN Fury 17U-Zern and WI Breakaway. From the opening tip, WI Breakaway came out swinging first and controlled the early pace with beautiful ball movement, confident shooting, and relentless energy on both ends. Every possession felt sharp and purposeful as they built a 35-29 halftime lead and looked fully in command heading into the half.
But the second half brought a completely different storm.
MN Fury came out with a different edge, turning defensive pressure into momentum and slowly chipping away possession by possession. At the 8:50 mark of the second half, Fury finally grabbed their first lead of the game, and the game instantly shifted. From there, it became a heavyweight exchange filled with runs, big shots, steals, and momentum swings that kept everybody locked in until the final buzzer. Every time WI Breakaway answered, Fury found another response and refused to give the lead back, surviving a relentless late push to secure a gritty 68-63 comeback victory.
MN Fury was led by #5 Alex Healy (
@AlexHealy05), who poured in 14pts with timely buckets when his squad needed them most. Teammate #11 matched him with 14pts of his own in a balanced attack that fueled the second-half comeback.
WI Breakaway may have come up short, but they battled every second of the game. #1
@graesongeiger was everywhere on the floor, leading all scorers with 17pts while also creating havoc defensively with 4 steals. Teammate #7
@IYuenger5 added 15pts and 3 steals, bringing toughness, energy, and constant pressure throughout the battle.
Straight high-level hoops from start to finish.
