I’m obsessed with CLARKSON’S FARM. Farming is my new favorite genre? I’m also growing avocados, pears, grapes, kumquats . . .

He-Man is really well made. Clever take. Great visual effects and action sequences. Well cast. It just seems to be a property that feels like IP rather than being IP. Feels like the reaction to ‘Barbie worked. What else is in the Mattel library?’ Was anyone clamoring for this to be a movie? Respond here if you did. Maybe there are die-hard He-Man people out there?

I loved OBSESSION. loved. If you haven’t seen it, you should. BUT - I’ve seen this cycle so many times and in 18 months, we will have 3 horror movies every weekend and none of them will perform to their potential. The right comp is ANYONE BUT YOU. A romcom? Yes. The most powerful hit generating formula in the movie business is a good to great high concept film in a genre that has been underserved for a while. Let’s not all pile on the horror bandwagon. Let’s make an awesome R rated comedy. Let’s make a sexy erotic thriller. Let’s make a great emotional true story. Let’s make a great love story! There are audiences out there hungry for their type of movie. Let’s feed them. (Also - please see MOTOR CITY July 24 in a theater near you. And please enjoy KPOPS on Netflix!!!)

Been reporting on casting news for nearly 20 years and it’s my firm belief that MOST of the time. the right actor winds up with the role. This is a good example.
Recently get thiiiiiiissss close to a gig you really wanted? I remember when we were casting 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU. Came down to Heath and two other unknown guys. I felt so terrible for the other 2. They were so good and now wouldn’t get this big break. The other two? Ashton Kutcher and Josh Hartnett. Just goes to show you. If you come up as the second choice, it’s a great sign. Your opportunity is just around the corner.

One Claude Max subscriber generated $5,600 in API costs on a $100/month plan. A 56x subsidy ratio. Anthropic is now moving Enterprise to usage-based pricing, The Information reports. The flat-rate era for AI is ending. In China, the same collision is playing out at a fraction of the price:hellochinatech.com/p/china-a…

I was really bummed not to be invited to this. Seemed like a great event. Don’t forget your studio execs! Reward them for fighting for your films! Make them feel included.
If you are a fan of David Fincher, Zodiac, or Bong Joon Ho this is a must read collider.com/zodiac-movie-me…

Amen. Score one point for ‘decency’ and ‘authenticity’. Coogler is a special human completely separate from his immense talent.
it's no secret Ryan Coogler is an incredible filmmaker, but — as anyone lucky enough to work in or even NEAR the movies these days could probably tell you — he's also just an incredible human being. sincerely thrilled for all of his success. rare the Oscars make me feel that way.

Name something a founder could show an angel investor they are starting to build that could not be done by AI within 5 years.

Game changer. Great leadership.
As studios finally start to see the damage of the short theatrical windows are making long term, #Universal is changing their strategy and will keep #universal released titles exclusively in Theatres for at least 45 days, regardless of performance at US #BoxOffice. Currently, movies which underperform or gross less than 50M are kept for just 17 days exclusively in theatres before heading to digital, and even big titles such as the #Wicked films hit digital after just 39 days. From now onwards, 45 days become the very minimum.

Are people finally going to realize that the NFL is a defense driven league? The obsession with qb’s is understandable but Sam Darnold was good enough. Even if Mendoza is the next Peyton Manning, it’s much better to have several high draft picks for defense than 1 for a qb. Ask Houston.
