The Norwegian government wants to restrict the possibility for Ukrainian men (18–60) to stay in Norway. This comes as the Ukrainian army faces a manpower shortage, and European governments want to send more cannon fodder to Zelensky to prolong the war. This war is the consequence of a 35-year-long struggle over the post-Cold War European security architecture, and Ukraine is used as a pawn in a conflict between NATO and Russia. Ukrainians did not choose this war. NATO countries engineered the coup in 2014 and designed the new government, empowered some very nasty militias and political forces, sabotaged the Minsk agreement for seven years, financed the “red lines” that subverted the peace mandate that 73% of Ukrainians voted for in 2019, sabotaged the 2022 Istanbul agreement, and for the past four years boycotted diplomacy that could have resolved the issue of the European security architecture. They pump in all the weapons they can, shed crocodile tears for the victims, and occasionally travel to Kiev for selfies. Ukrainians are hiding from and escaping Zelensky’s “recruiters” in the hundreds of thousands, and some lucky men manage to flee. If our political leaders want to prolong the war further, then I suggest they strap on some boots and volunteer instead of sending more Ukrainian men to fight their war.
