Fable 5 was really good. We can feel it when it’s gone.

They are so mad right now. All of bluesky. They want the XBOX gravy train to continue no matter what. No matter how woke and awful the games are. So their green haired DEI hires can still have jobs. The salt flows.

If you continue to be in denial about what went wrong, you will never fix the problem. Many people being like this right now.
Hear me out🚀 It wasn’t exclusivity It wasn’t “money-hatting” third party It wasn’t acquisitions It wasn’t console wars It wasn’t “woke” vs. “anti-woke” It wasn’t “entitled gamers” It wasn’t COVID or “the economy” It was the last two CEOs on both sides that single-handedly ruined gaming’s biggest makers, with live service, greed, cookie-cutter creations and the most terrible decisions that only talented creators and studios paid for with closures🎤

Ninja Theory is the latest studio to get the dreaded “Xbox” call. They, along with Compulsion, are being given a narrow window of time to find buyers or new investors. In today’s market, that is going to be almost impossible. All the Asian funding for games has dried up, because they figured out they could make their own games and do it better. And Asian money was the biggest investment vehicle in games.

The rumors of more studios keep swirling. You’re gonna see journalists turn on Microsoft and Xbox, because these studios were filled with their leftist friends. No studios means no access too, less to write about as AAA collapses. Indie studios and AA do not offer free resort trips and swag that the leeches have grown to like so much, This is long overdue. It needed to happen. And the cut must be very deep.
Arkane Lyon may reportedly be shut down by Xbox, putting its Blade game at risk. This one is going to hurt a lot. #Xbox

Microsoft won’t save much by shutting down small 100 person Xbox studios. Something much bigger is coming.

This is incredibly wise.
As a game designer, you'll learn a lot more by figuring out why people like Monopoly than by explaining why you hate it.

Mark Gordon, head of Treyarch, is retiring today. The timing comes on the heels of: - XBOX head of studios departing today - XBOX Chief of Staff leaving today - Compulsion Studios shuttering today. The XBOX re-org train is already hitting very hard. This retirement timing sure seems odd.

XBOX is rumored to want to ship Project Helix without a controller. Which is the hilarious state of gaming hardware right now. They expect XBOX ram prices to cost 5x in the near future. It already doubled on them in December. XBOX did not anticipate the RAM shortage, as I reported back then, unlike Playstation which locked in supplies earlier. XBOX also recently admitted they lose hundreds of dollars on the current XBOX, and this is before the new RAM costs kick in.

Pick 3 to save from the Xbox studio closures. Pick 3 more to definitely shut down.

Xbox's next layoffs. There are good reasons to suspect that Blizzard might be hit in this year's round of Xbox layoffs: - The deal cost $69 Billion as part of Activision/Blizzard. (As comparison, MS bought all of Nokia for 7.6B). - When asked about the acquisition, she hedged "..it's hard to say how to think about these decisions." - They are still carrying intangibles for this on their books, for 25 years. It costs them 3B a year in amortization expense. - Blizzard shipped Diablo 4 in 2023. There were no major Blizzard announcements at the XBOX show, which was odd. - Blizzard is not on the list of the doubling down of investments rumored. - Xbox could save a lot of accounting money if they wrote down the value of Blizzard via impairment, the same way Sony saved themselves from the disastrous 3.6B dollar Bungie acquisition. Carrying 3B a year in accounting deadweight is weighing down profits for the whole division, which Asha said was only 3%. If they did layoffs and impairment to write down the value of the studio, they could instantly double their profit margin. The could keep the studio, trim it way back, and write down the rest. A CEO looking at this would seriously consider it when XBOX is on it's last legs as it stands today.

What stage of grief is this?
Update: The report now claims that Compulsion management is "negotiating" with Microsoft on the studio's future, but adds that the nature of these negotiations is unknown.

XBOX Chief of Staff also abruptly departs the division today. Louise O'Conner has not even had time to change her X bio, which seems like it was a surprise departure. When the head of studios and chief of staff leave, you know the layoffs are gonna be huge.

id Software no longer appears in the Zenimax pulldown for job positions. Clicking the job link from id Software just takes you to an empty filter. The studio is not listed in the pulldown. This is very concerning. DOOM The Dark Ages did not perform as well as expected. Let's hope it's nothing to worry about.

Compulsion Games alienated their core team when they brought on SBI to consult on South of Midnight. I had multiple former team members inform me of swaps to the main character and a culture of fear. They used to be a good studio, but DEI ruined them. Now they are gone.

Community Manager for Compulsion Games, makers of South by Midnight hated gamers, white people and Asians. They just closed the studio. She's putting the fries in the bag now.
