Last Thursday,
@gsgators had their very own “story walk-a-palooza" for students to enjoy outside!
A StoryWalk® is a movement and literacy boosting project that places an illustrated children’s book, taken apart and displayed page by page, along with a walking route made for that community. Olathe Public Schools’ Library Media Specialists Kathleen Kamradt, Julia Crainshaw and Janelle Stigall had read about the idea and decided to obtain a grant from
@OPSF233 to make it happen in Olathe.
“The way our grant is set up is that we’ll have 12 books over the course of the next six years, having one in the spring and one in the fall,” Kamradt said. “We’re getting the fresh air and the opportunity to get out, read and have discussions.”
Green Springs Elementary has held similar events in the past inside, but this is the first time they got to go outside and be a part of this awesome experience. Thanks to the help of some of our amazing librarians, this is an experience that students will get to see more of in the future!
