For years, @conniewang thought the story of her name was special. β€œLittle did I know it was the story of a generation,” she writes. β€œGeneration Connie.” nyti.ms/3VREJu3

The book is a translation of a traditional legend and is representative of Hawaiian intelligentsia that was published in the early 1900s (Schweizer, 1991; Kawaharada, 1992).

I just wanted to share this cool video. Plus, I took a course from the scholar and educator who worked on this video. It was a great class, and if I remember correctly, we also read Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen.

He fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is β€œNever get involved in a land war in Asia,” but only slightly less well-known is this: β€œNever brand yourself as the guy who loves his wife then cheat on your wife!” #tryguys

Eavesdropping because this person speaks loudly enough in a public space. It sounds like they're giving a keynote, but they called it a meeting. No pausing to breathe, solicit questions, interact, or otherwise discuss with others--straight talking for 15 mins. Impressive!

Apparently, the new neighbors are fellow academics. I hope they're nice and if not I'll rename my WiFi to eduroam and make them go crazy over their login details not working...
