On video: Congress admits they’ve got $800 MILLION set aside for ICE bonuses up to $44,000. Meanwhile, the “average American bonus” is $2,500… if you’re lucky enough to even get one. So let me get this straight: They can’t fund healthcare, housing, or disaster relief… …but they can cut cash incentives for an agency that’s detaining people first and checking facts later. That’s the priority.

She sets the stage by beginning with a ceremony of an old tradition. Her way of crafting main characters is interesting. Beyond the world of Earthsea, the main characters are relatable in some aspect (i.e., the child, Tenar, is a victim raised into a life she never asked for)

Powerful book. A tale of a young girl breaking chains and cycles. Empowers readers by showing how change is very much attainable. Check out the second paragraph that’s highlighted. Le Guin advises her readers on the challenges that come with freedom

Some of my favorite pictures of my books. I think these have especially left an impact on my life. Earthsea is a beautifully comforting tale. It moves me so much just thinking about the time I read it and I’m seriously considering rereading it

Cerberus. Man. I still think about that book today. I had never read such rich literature. This book gave me whiplash from the absurdity of what I read; I had to really apply myself to understand what was being told, and the reward was powerfully thought-provoking.

Left Hand is another story that comes to mind every so often. It was the first thought-experiment I delved into, and Le Guin’s prose is very meditative. This book felt anthropological, and its density only made the execution in feeling alienated and isolated immense.
