Freelancers are charging small businesses $3K/month for "AI content systems."
I looked into what's actually being delivered. An AI tool writes the posts. Someone schedules them. Maybe an hour of editing.
That's the $3,000.
And honestly, it sells for a reason. Owners know AI could help but nobody wants to learn 12 tools. So they pay the guy who did. In 2024 that was a fair trade.
But it's 2026.
Full disclosure, I'm biased here. I built 3rdShift, which is basically this exact service as a product. 70 AI team members, fill out a form, get finished work back for a fraction of the price.
But biased or not, the math is the math. The AI part of a $3K retainer costs less than your phone bill. The rest is markup for pressing buttons.
