ABCCM serves more than 30,000 individuals each year and is on the front lines of addressing poverty, homelessness, and veteran hardship across Western North Carolina. I met with their team to discuss veteran housing and recovery needs, including the important work being done through the Veterans Restoration Quarters, which provides 250 beds for homeless veterans. That’s also why I introduced the Justice for America’s Veterans and Survivors Act — to ensure families of veterans lost to suicide receive the recognition and benefits they deserve.

I live in Asheville. I never once saw FEMA. But I saw Samaritan's Purse, ABCCM, local churches and individuals helping each other.

16 months of persistence alongside Asheville Veteran Restoration Quarters has paid off. My office worked with ABCCM, HUD, and FEMA to secure a path forward. The remodeled VRQ will offer 158 beds, and the adjacent Quality Inn will become 120 apartments, supporting about 350 homeless veterans in WNC. I’m honored to continue working with VRQ to give our veterans the support and path forward they deserve. Read more: linkedin.com/pulse/when-reso…

Fun! I usually enjoy interesting weather. Went out with a friend during the Blizzard of 1993 to play in the snow, we went to ABCCM to get food for people stuck at the Days Inn Downtown in Asheville, had fun. Helene was maybe too much though probly. 🔧❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🪄

Veterans are 2x as likely as the general public to be homeless. ABCCM does great work helping Vets and it was a tragedy that Hurricane Helene destroyed their Veterans housing site. Good to see they have a new facility and good on Thom Tillis for helping! Where was Chuck Edwards?
