The way repurposed drugs were tested during pandemic was catastrophic, e.g. @NIH funded #activ6 trial that destroyed evidence of 5 drugs by including patients already healed at baseline in all treatment arms.

The miracle drug doesn't work if you are already healed.
You should tell #activ6 investigators... They gave IVM to people who already recovered after 13 days of illness.
And they wonder why the results are not very positive.

Yes, it's clear some RCTs were designed to fail. Activ6 trial is one good example of RCT designed to fail (all arms, not only ivermectin).

➖Activ6 trial recruit late stage low risk patients, even patients already recovered. No single drug can do a difference against placebo. That's clearly the worst clinical trial protocol ever. No Dr. on earth would use drugs like this.

@MedinCell trial showing large efficacy of IVM in PeP provided definitive answer: if used appropriately, IVM is a powerful tool against covid.

Metformin did not show benefit vs placebo for covid19 in ACTIV6. Notably, the COVIDOUT trial showed reduced long covid in the metformin arm and some key secondary outcomes re: acute covid. Benefits were not replicated in this large, adaptive platform RCT.

DB RCT lover @VPrasadMDMPH seems to love only RCTs in which some patients received the drug when they were already healed #activ6, not well conducted ones showing repurposed drugs are far more efficient than vaccines to prevent infections (NNT=2.6)

No need university. Read Guzzo et al., Krolewiecki et al. and explain why all trials included in your 'definitive' meta-analysis administered ivm on empty stomach, included patients already healed (activ6), didn't exclude people already taking ivm (Lopez-Medina), etc...

I am a COVID unit nurse. I am NOT a murderer. The medication we offered saved lives. What did not was Ivermectin and HCQ. The ACTIV6 studies done at hospitals like the one I work proved that they didn't work. How many people more do you want me to watch die due to misinformation?

In the @JAMANetwork, authors claim that 1334 participants were randomized and 1206 received the drug when enrollment was stopped.
On clinicaltrials, they claim that 1459 participants were randomized and 1432 received the drug !
