The charities raising billions aren't doing it all. They're doing one thing really well — and building everything else around it.
That's one of the key takeaways from Rasheeda Childress, senior editor for fundraising at the Chronicle of Philanthropy, speaking this week at
#AFPICON in San Diego.
She was sharing findings from America's Favorite Charities — the Chronicle's annual look at the 100 nonprofits earning the most support from individual donors, foundations, and corporate philanthropies. These organizations raised more than $38 billion collectively in 2023. That's roughly $1 out of every $15 donated to charity that year.
