Dr. @afrah_alzouba met in Washington with the President and CEO of Amideast, Ambassador Greta C. Holtz, to discuss ways to strengthen the partnership in the areas of training and institutional capacity building. Al-Zouba called for expanding Amideast programs to include capacity building for civil service employees in government institutions. For her part, the Ambassador expressed interest in expanding its programs in Aden, highlighting the successful experience in training diplomats and noting the possibility of replicating this model in Yemen.

US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg has marked the 70th anniversary of the American Center Cairo (ACC) and officially launched America250, a year-long commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence The ACC, established in 1955, has long served as a bridge between Egyptians and Americans, strengthening a partnership that supports regional security and shared prosperity. The celebration, held at the American Center in Cairo, was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy and Luxor Governor Abdel Muttalib Emara. For seven decades, the ACC has provided generations of Egyptians with access to resources and programmes that foster learning, entrepreneurship and innovation. From English-language training to technology programmes, the centre has helped participants develop valuable skills, expand professional networks and pursue personal and career growth. The event also recognised the ACC’s partnerships with major institutions including the Egypt Society for Culture and Development (ESCD), Amideast, the American University in Cairo (AUC), Misr Public Library and other local and international partners. Our main concern now is finding safety and a secure place, which have disappeared from our lives. My family consists of seven members, and we currently live in our home, but we will soon have to leave it. I lost my grandfather—may God have mercy on him—during the war; he was martyred on the first day of the ceasefire. We went through very difficult circumstances, but I have tried to work on improving myself despite everything. Oh God, I am deeply shocked to hear this heartbreaking news !! Ghada Rabah was my very first English teacher more than 18 years ago, my mentor, when I received a scholarship to study the language at the AmidEast Institute in Gaza City. She was a true human being before being a teacher, a symbol of elegance, a source of beauty, a beacon of literature, and a cradle of knowledge. I still remember those moments vividly and share them with a friend who walked the same journey with me, and together we always recall her with kindness. And by a twist of fate, Ghada once was also a student of my mother in high school. Today, I mourn you, my teacher. In fact, I mourn myself in you.
