Government Engages Maritime Stakeholders Amid Middle East Crisis
A high-level stakeholder meeting was convened under the chairmanship of the Honโble Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, to address issues arising from the ongoing crisis situation in the Middle East affecting the maritime sector.
The meeting focused on concerns related to Indian maritime stakeholders, including seafarers, cargo transporters, Export Associations, FIEO, FFFAI, AMTOI, trade associations and CSLA,
who are impacted or currently situated in the affected region. Key challenges, operational constraints and safety-related concerns were raised before the Honโble Minister for consideration.
Relief measures and support mechanisms were discussed to safeguard the interests and well-being of affected stakeholders and ensure continuity of maritime operations.
Senior officials, including the Director General of Shipping, Chairperson, Mumbai Port Authority, Chairperson, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and Joint Secretary (Ports), along with industry stakeholders, participated in the meeting, reflecting a coordinated and responsive approach by the Government of India in addressing the evolving situation
