Glad you’re happy. Honestly am. Actually has cheered me a bit. She and her teamsters have not been great for many others. She hasn’t done the best job for vulnerable children and adults. See cuts to ASGSF PIP UC And the upcoming SEND reform to name a few. And the WASPI mess. And the Dirty Water Scandal And dragging their feet with the Post office victims. And that’s just nationally.

Disappointed that Labour MPs voted against increasing the #ASGSF tonight. We are told tough choices need to be made, but the @educationgovuk spent nearly £50m on ads last year—up £15m in two years. Halving that could restore vital therapeutic support for thousands of children.

Agree. Not Keir's biggest fan (so many things wrong with cuts to ASGSF and the upcoming SEND reform amongst other things for example) but it should be ok to say "we've looked at further evidence and consulted with people who actually know the landscape and we'd realised x". Tired of this relentless point scoring for the sake of it

The extension of the #ASGSF until March 2028 will come as a relief to many families and providers after months of uncertainty. However, many will still struggle to get the support they need as individual grants remain cut.

Our Chair @melanie_onn has welcomed the ASGSF funding confirmation after last year's uncertainty, and said our APPG will scrutinise the proposals to ensure all kinship children can access the support they need.

Today the Govt announced a consultation on adoption & kinship care support, including on the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF). The ASGSF will continue for two more years to 2028 with £55 million for 2026/27. There are 8 proposals for future reform 1/

Josh MacAllister MP and the @educationgovuk are repeating the mistakes of 2025 and failing adopted and kinship children. Where is a decision about the parameters for the adoption and special guardianship support fund for 2026/2027? Without one applications cannot be opened and the inevitable bottle neck of applications will build up. The result, further harmful delays and gaps in vital specialist therapeutic support. Preventable harm. Harm caused by government failings that occur repeatedly and for which there are no excuse. Where is the full and independent consultation process on the longer term future of the fund? Talked about by the Minister for Children and Families (Both Janet and Josh) and the DfE and almost a year on we are still none the wiser. Time wasted. Time that demonstrates a team that do not have the ability to adequately plan or prepare and do not prioritise the needs of some of the most vulnerable children in society. It is inexcusable. The cuts to the per child limits within the fund MUST be reversed, they were made without consultation or evidence and the government has not adequately monitored the impact, not even close. We have and the harm being done to children and families is intolerable. Delaying consultation cannot mean a delay in reversing the cuts. Consultation should take place with the cuts reversed so that children do not come to further unnecessary harm while expert opinion is sought, the future is planned for and decisions are made. Despite overwhelming evidence from the sectors charities, from experts and from children and families the government has continued on this harmful path. There can be no excuse. Our campaign will increase its activity and its pressure. Our children deserve so much better. @bphillipsonMP @RachelReevesMP #fundnoworpaylater #ACutTooFar #asgsf #carenotcuts

We’re starting off 2026 with thanks to award-winning journalist and author Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, @y_alibhai who joins our campaign asking government to reverse all cuts to the #ASGSF. Some of the most vulnerable children and young adults in this country are being failed by this Labour government. Despite pleas, data and evidence from the sector, families (including our campaign group) and the experts telling them to reverse all cuts now, they have refused to reverse these cuts. This is harmful and cruel, not only for children and their families but for wider society. Join us in our call to government, follow us here, tag @RachelReevesMP and @bphillipsonMP and sign the open letter to Josh MacAllister, the Minister for Children and Families. We continue to meet with and fully support this call from charities across the sector calling on the government to: 1. Reinstate former ASGSF funding limits or meet the needs of the child identified in a multi-disciplinary assessment of need with immediate effect. 2. Launch a full public consultation on the future of the fund, open to young people, families, and professionals, with clearly defined, evidenced options to choose from. 3. Commit to halt further changes to the system until all evidence is gathered, and learning from potential new models has been carried out. Read the scoping paper which makes recommendations for the consultation process in full here: bit.ly/44FQVUk Do share this scoping paper with with your MPs too and ask them to write to the Minister for Children and Families and @bphillipsonMP asking them to carry out a consultation as outlined. The evidence is there, the need cannot be ignored. Experts, charities and families are all saying the same thing. The government simply MUST listen. @educationgovuk #fundnoworpaylater #ACutTooFar #asgsf #carenotcuts

Huge thank you to award-winning author, podcaster and producer, Giles Paley-Phillips who joins our campaign asking government to reverse all cuts to the #ASGSF. Some of the most vulnerable children and young adults in this country are being failed by this Labour government. Government aren’t listening to the sector, to families or to the experts, all telling them to reverse all cuts now. Instead they appear to only be listening to those who tell them what they want to hear. This is harmful and cruel, not only for children and their families but for wider society. Join us in our call to government, follow us here, tag @RachelReevesMP Rand @bphillipsonMP (if you can) and sign the open letter to Josh MacAllister, the Minister for Children and Families: asgsfprotest.com/add-your-si… Wonderful people with profile, to join our growing campaign of public outcry against damaging cuts to a lifeline fund for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in England, please DM. The BBC have been inundated with responses to ‘Adoption the Blame Game.’ Here is a follow up article and within it another opportunity to tell the BBC about the difficulties our children and families are facing. We’d encourage you to respond to the BBC story (link below). bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjrj… We’ve included some potential text that you could use in case it’s helpful. Please do personalise to your situation. "Post Adoption Support has been brutally cut by this government. In April 2025 without warning, consultation or evidence base the government slashed the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) by 60-90%. This means thousands of children have lost access to the level of specialist therapeutic support that they desperately need. All children have seen a 60% reduction in what they can now access with the scrapping of separate funding for multidisciplinary assessments and the 40% reduction to the fair access limit (amount that could be accessed for specialist therapy). Match Funding which allowed children with an exceptional level of need access to a higher level of support has been scrapped completely, these children have seen cuts of up to 90% in what they can access. Children have now had therapy severely cut back or stopped all together. Children are experiencing suicidal ideation and no longer have therapeutic support. School attendance and engagement has been hugely impacted. Families have been plunged into crisis. Real harm has been done to children by these cuts and is compounding with time. Yet the government refuses to reverse these cuts. asgsfprotest.com/pcsurveyapr… "
