I see a fair amount of delusional disorder (e.g. schizophrenia without disorganization or negative symptoms). Delusional disorder would qualify for insanity if you consider that absolvement. It is hard to know as some spend more time confined as insane than guilty.
Nowadays, we also have mental health diversion; you can also get mental health diversion for delusional disorder. That may be closer to absolvement.
