President Isaias Afwerki received, today at Adi Halo, and held extensive discussions with Mr. Claver Gatete, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and his delegation.
President Isaias underlined that Eritrea's ongoing developmental approaches are broadly focussed, at this juncture, on judicious management of land & water resources, as well as extensive programmes in the sectors of agriculture, infrastructure, energy and other prospective domains.
President Isaias alluded to structural impediments - poverty, corruption, external intervention etc. - which are hampering Africa's potential and capabilities for nurturing meaningful external patnerships. Creating the conducive climate as the first order of business is thus imperative for optimal results, President Isaias stated.
The President emphasized on the importance and indispensability of regional partnerships and coordination for common progress and development of the neighborhood and expressed Eritrea's commitment to work together with the ECA to advance these objectives.
