Community voices on the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal As part of the NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTCs), two Nukkad Nataks (street plays) were held in Kathmandu to open up honest conversations on mental health, nutrition, alcoholism, and the vital role of community champions as trusted local leaders. Built around everyday experiences, these street plays created a safe, inclusive space for dialogue, reflection, and shared problem-solving. By meeting people where they are and taking conversations beyond formal settings, the approach helps reduce stigma, strengthen trust, and support community-led pathways to care for people living with MLTCs. This work reflects WHO and NIHR principles of meaningful community engagement: listening to lived experience, valuing local knowledge, and co-creating solutions with communities, not for them.
