Conveners and organizers have not been served anything properly!
We have gotten no service!
We criticised the previous government for using the police and the courts to block citizens from protesting. We said it was wrong. We said it was suppressing constitutional rights.
Now we are in office under a reset agenda, and we are doing the same thing.
This protest is about galamsey, the destruction of our rivers, our forests, and our future. Citizens demanding action on an environmental crisis should not be treated like a threat to public order. That is deeply disappointing.
You cannot promise a reset and respond to peaceful civic action with prohibition orders and police enforcement. That is not leadership. That is repetition.
If we truly believe in democracy, then we must be strong enough to tolerate peaceful dissent especially when it is about saving Ghana’s land and water. Anything less is shameful and I will speak against it.
