🪩 -> 💫 Part II of the response envelopes with hypoplasticity (von Wolffersdorff, 1996). You can vary the parameters and also see how the current stress state affects the response envelope. #AnimatingSoilModels using @geogebra 🧮 LINK: geogebra.org/m/qrdw2sas

💫Response envelopes are a good graphical way of checking constitutive equations. 🟡They are also useful for showing that hypoplasticity is just an elastic model L : ε̇ shifted by N ||ε̇||: σ̇ = L : ε̇ N ||ε̇|| #AnimatingSoilModels using @geogebra LINK: geogebra.org/m/nxnbfddh

⭕️🪨You can use the sliders to vary the Mohr-Coulomb parameters c and φ. You can also reduce the minor principal stress σ₃ for a given σ₁=-100 kPa until the MC failure criterion is reached. #AnimatingSoilModels, once again created with @geogebra 🧮: soilmodels.com/wp-content/up…

🥱I reduced sliders for clarity, but it's a bit boring now. Planning to bring slightly more excitement to #AnimatingSoilModels in 2024! Happy New Year, everyone! ➖➕geotech sign convention: soilmodels.com/wp-content/up… mech sign convention: soilmodels.com/wp-content/up…

🎆Finishing 2023 with @geogebra 🧮 and #AnimatingSoilModels This figure might help illustrate the link between Mohr’s circles and stress paths, using a cd compr test. The MC failure line (c=0) is shown and the stress state can be adjusted with the slider: soilmodels.com/wp-content/up…

haha, @geogebra is already famous and has sooo much potential to be used in engineering education, not just for #AnimatingSoilModels

I missed #AnimatingSoilModels. So I visualised Mohr's circle with @geogebra. In the interactive figure you can vary the radius and move point A and centre point C: soilmodels.com/soilanim/#lin…

Thanks to @PaniaNewell, I could once again present #AnimatingSoilModels. It was a pleasure to meet you & your students!

😕 Unfortunately, I have not made any tool to visualize Mohr's circles. This has been on my to-do list for a long time and I have not yet(?) done it. I clearly need part 2 of #AnimatingSoilModels, but I can't promise when that will happen.

(2/2) This illustration aims to give students a better understanding of stress space, the deviatoric plane, and stress invariants. They can also rotate the 3D figure, use slider, check out invariants, ... [And I am still #AnimatingSoilModels 🙃]

I've always wanted to try @geogebra. And some of you asked for sliders for parameter variation related to hypoplasticity & #AnimatingSoilModels. This is my first @geogebra draft of the bounding surface of hypoplasticity. (some things will be improved) ⬇️ geogebra.org/m/r8n9kesw

Just a short update: The project #AnimatingSoilModels is not finished and there are things in development. AND: I'm not working on it alone, but in collaboration with others: on small-strain stiffness, bounding surface plasticity, ... More to come soon, at least in 2021 ;-)
