The Sharavathy Pumped Storage Project can be a major step towards Karnataka’s clean-energy future. With a planned capacity of 2,000 MW, this project is a transformative renewable-energy asset for Karnataka. Yet it continues to await multiple central clearances, including environmental, forest, and wildlife approvals.
This is not merely about one power project. It is about Karnataka’s energy security, renewable transition, and the opportunity to reduce dependence on conventional sources while creating growth and jobs.
That is why I raised the Sharavathy Project in my 18-point memorandum to the Union Government on behalf of Karnataka.
If Karnataka’s clean-energy future matters, why are the required clearances still being delayed?
