Monitoring Tech That Watches Your Child Isn’t the Same as Keeping Them Safe (4/4) #AutismTech #MonitoringTechChildSafety #Neurodiversity

Therapy ends at the door. A child's day doesn't. That gap is what Dr. Chris Whitmer kept seeing in his son Ethan's life. The strategies a BCBA builds and an RBT runs all live inside the session. At 7 PM on a Tuesday, with the therapist gone and dinner cooking, the family is on its own to carry the plan across the kitchen, the store, the school hallway. Whitmer is an aerospace engineer from rural Kansas, the son of two public school teachers, with a PhD and a STEM education company that raised $3.5 million in federal grants. His wife, Karri Haen Whitmer, is a neurobiology professor at Iowa State University. After Ethan's diagnosis, they built the tool they wished had existed. Ama AI reads a child's existing treatment plan and extends those same strategies into daily life. It doesn't impose its own behavioral model, and it doesn't override the clinician. It's parent-controlled, with no data shared without consent. As they put it: "We were skeptical about AI too, so we built the digital advocate our child deserves." It's now in a pilot with MAC Midwest in Minnesota and reaching about 600 young people. The thing being measured is generalization, whether skills learned in therapy actually transfer to home and school. If it works without adding to clinician workload, it scales. Most ABA AI tools are built for providers. This one is built for the hours between sessions. "That's the hope for all parents of these kids — knowing that when we're gone, our kid is going to be OK." — Karri Haen Whitmer, Co-Founder, Ama AI breakingnewsaba.com/founder-… #ABA #BCBA #BreakingNewsABA #Autism #AutismTech #AssistiveTechnology #AIinHealthcare

Asperger isn’t a curse. I might have some social struggles. But I think and learn programming in a different way, and it’s honestly awesome. I'm still here, and I'll continue my journey forever. Lastly, I’m not broken... #AspergerTEA #AutismTech #Autism #Tech #IndieDev #YoungDev
