Meal 2 of Day 9 βœ… Today's dinner was sourdough bread topped with chicken and cheese, plus some extra chicken on the side. I'll be honest... this meal was dangerous πŸ˜‚ Not because it was unhealthy, but because it tasted so good that I genuinely wanted more. If I wasn't dieting, I could have easily gone back for seconds. Maybe thirds too πŸ˜… The funny thing is that I wasn't even that hungry when I sat down at 17:15 I had been drinking plenty of water throughout the day, so although I was hungry, it was kind of sitting in the background. The tummy had submitted its request for food, but I wasn't really giving it much attention πŸ˜… Then this plate arrived and suddenly the tummy became very persuasive. The meal was planned by the wife, and I have zero complaints. I was just happy to sit down and eat after a hectic day. Then came a spoonful of Nutella. Did I need it? Probably not. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely πŸ˜‚ The good news is that the flu is basically gone now πŸ™Œ Had my padel training session earlier in the day and overall I'm feeling much more like myself again. Looking back, today felt like one of those days where the routine just happened naturally. No big battle with hunger. No feeling deprived. Just sticking to the plan and moving forward. Now we wait and see what the scale thinks about all of this tomorrow morning πŸ‘€ #Back2Health
Gm Gm CT 😊 Day 9 of #Back2Health βš–οΈ 102.1kg (225 lbs) This is actually my first weigh-in since Day 6 πŸ™ƒ, I'm ashamed I know 🫣 Day 7 and Day 8 never got recorded. Sunday was chaos from the moment the kids woke up πŸ˜‚ and then we slept away from home, so the scale and I never got our usual morning meeting on Monday. Considering the weekend wasn't exactly textbook dieting and yesterdaywas filled with snacking, I'll happily take today's number πŸ‘Š. Breathing a sign of relief to be honest, phew πŸ˜…. One thing I've learned from previous weight-loss attempts is that don't over stress on the food if you don't follow your routine for a day or too. Sometimes you have to zoom out and look at the bigger picture. (Just try to not over do the calorie intake) Today was also a bit of a rush. Had a padel training session, so there wasn't much time before or after to eat properly. I grabbed a Jungle Oats bar before training and then had the cereal protein powder in shake form afterwards while rushing off to work. Not the most exciting meal in the world, but sometimes we don't have much room for fancy plans, although my "fancy" would have only been mixing yoghurt and protein cereal instead of the shake πŸ˜† The important thing is that I didn't use being busy as an excuse to completely abandon the plan. I didn't break my fast before time and all of that. The funny thing is that I actually felt pretty good during training. Coach was pretty happy with my level kf effort today. A week ago I was fighting the flu, low energy and wondering when I'd feel normal again. I'm not 100% yet, but I definitely feel like I'm moving in the right direction. Now let's see what dinner looks like later. #Back2Health

Day 8 of #Back2Health A little update since I disappeared for a day πŸ˜… I didn't manage to get a Day 7 post out because it was Sunday and the kids were all over me from the moment we woke up. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to weigh myself. By the time I had a free moment, the day had basically disappeared πŸ˜‚ The rest of the day was spent visiting friends and catching up. Because we were moving around so much, there wasn't really a proper meal. We just ended up snacking here and there throughout the day. I also slept away from home, so I didn't get a chance to weigh myself this morning either. Not ideal from a tracking perspective, but life happens. One thing I've learned from previous weight-loss attempts is that the occasional imperfect day isn't what causes people to fail. It's when one imperfect day turns into a week, then a month. Today is Day 8 and the journey continues. I broke my fast at the usual time today, although I have to confess it was with cupcakes πŸ˜… Not exactly the breakfast of someone who wants to lose weight πŸ˜†. Hopefully dinner is a little more #Back2Health friendly. The goal remains the same: Keep showing up. Keep making more good decisions than bad ones. Keep moving in the right direction. Let's see what Day 8 has in store πŸ‘Š #Back2Health
Day 6 of #Back2Health βš–οΈ 102.7kg (226.4 lbs) Up 0.7kg from yesterday. Was I disappointed? A little. Was I worried? Not really. These days happen. Looking back, I didn't sleep well at all. I was awake from around 2am until about 5am and was out of bed by 06:15. I've said it before and I'll probably say it again... I personally think sleep has a massive impact on my weight-loss efforts. The other possible culprit is yesterday's lamb chops. Not the lamb itself, but the sauces used in making it. That being said, this is exactly why I think it's important to zoom out and look at the bigger picture. If I only looked at today's number, I'd be annoyed. But if I look at where I started, I'm still moving in the right direction. Weight loss isn't a straight line. Some days you go down. Some days you go up. Then sometimes you wake up the next day and lose a kilo for no apparent reason πŸ˜‚ Consistency is what truly matters. The flu is still around, but I finally started some over-the-counter medication and it actually seems to be helping. Energy-wise, I feel better too. Which is funny because the scale went up, yet I feel more energetic than I did a few days ago. If you had shown me 102.7kg on Day 1, I would have been very happy with it. Perspective matters. Let's see what the day brings πŸ‘Š #Back2Health

Day 5 of #Back2Health βš–οΈ 102.0kg (224.9 lbs) Down another 0.5kg πŸ’ͺ I'll be honest, I was hoping to see a 101 on the scale this morning πŸ˜… But a loss is a loss, and I'll happily take it. The funny thing is that I'm starting to feel a little more energetic compared to before I started this journey. Unfortunately the flu is still hanging around, so I don't think I'm getting the full benefit of it yet. In a strange way, I feel like the flu is hiding some of the progress. Energy is improving. Weight is going down. But the flu keeps stopping me from feeling too happy πŸ€’ I got over 7 hours of sleep last night, which was a massive improvement from the 3hrs 45mins the night before. No surprise, I feel much better today. Looking back at yesterday, I'm happy with how it went. The 2 chocolates? No regrets there πŸ˜‚ The dinner though... let's just say I won't be rushing to repeat that particular meal anytime soon (Don't tell my wife πŸ˜‰) This morning my tummy made a few noises, but nothing major. That's another thing I've noticed over the last few days. The hunger doesn't feel as dramatic as it did at the beginning. I'd like to go for a walk or jump on the bike today, but we'll see what the flu allows. One thing at a time. Let's see what Day 5 brings πŸ‘Š #Back2Health

Meals of Day 5 βœ… (was busy today so forgot to take pic of 1st meal and also forgot to post anything πŸ™ƒ) Today's first meal was a protein shake, followed by a Jungle Oats bar a couple of hours later. Normally I would have gone with my protein cereal and yoghurt combo, but the flu is still hanging around and I had convinced myself that the yoghurt might be slowing down my recovery. No idea if that's actually true πŸ˜… But sometimes you just listen to what your body is telling you and make small adjustments. For dinner, it was lamb chops, mixed vegetables and half a chapati. The lamb chops were an easy 11/10, they were just too good. If I wasn't dieting, there is a very good chance I would have cleaned out the entire pot πŸ˜‚ One thing I found interesting today is that I felt full for most of the day. I'm not entirely sure why. The meals weren't huge and I didn't snack after dinner either. In fact, I was full enough that I didn't even feel the need for my usual little "something sweet" afterwards. The vegetables also seemed like a much bigger portion than usual. I'm not complaining, but I genuinely don't know how that happened. Looking back, I'm very happy with today's food choices. No regrets. No feeling deprived. No late-night snacking. Just another day moving in the right direction πŸ‘Š #Back2Health

Day 4 of #Back2Health βš–οΈ 102.5kg (226 lbs) No change from yesterday. (Phew) Considering I only slept 3hrs 45mins according to my Garmin, I'll happily take that πŸ˜… I was actually expecting the scale to punish me a little after such a poor night's sleep. I've always felt that sleep plays a massive role in my weight-loss efforts, so seeing the number hold steady was a pleasant surprise. The flu is still hanging around unfortunately. I might have to start taking some medication because it doesn't seem to be getting the message that it's no longer welcome πŸ€’ Energy-wise, I'm actually feeling okay. A little drowsy when I sit down, but that's probably what happens when you try to function on less than 4 hours of sleep. Looking back, I'm happy with yesterday. The padel session was great, and somehow I had enough energy afterwards to jump on the bike for another 15-20 minutes. This morning I can definitely feel that my stomach is empty. I haven't eaten anything since my main meal (which was 3hrs) before padel, and the tummy knows it πŸ˜‚ The funny thing is, I don't really mind. Part of me knows that every hour I stick to the plan is helping me move in the right direction. This mindset is what will help me achieve my goal! Difficult? Main meal of Day 4 βœ… Chicken, cauliflower rice and mixed vegetables. One thing I've noticed over the last few days is that the hunger is becoming more manageable. Don't get me wrong, it's still there, but it doesn't feel like an emergency anymore. Maybe my body is starting to get used to the routine. The cravings do get real though, the shawarmas and t-bones with a side of chips etc. But have to stay strong. This meal was good, but if I'm being honest, everything had a very similar flavour profile. I'm the type of person who likes variety on a plate. Different flavours. Different textures. Something to keep the taste buds entertained πŸ˜… In fact, I had about 2 pieces of chocolate afterwards. Not because I was still hungry. My tummy was full. My mouth just wasn't satisfied πŸ˜‚ The funny part is that while I was eating, I had all sorts of comments running through my head about what I would have changed if I had cooked it myself. More of this. Less of that. Maybe add something else. But my wife made it, so I kept all those thoughts to myself, smiled, and told her it was good πŸ˜‡ And to be fair, it was good. Just not the way I would have made it. Meal done. No exercise planned tonight, so now it's all about getting a decent night's sleep and seeing what the scale says tomorrow morning. #Back2Health

Meal 1 of Day 4 βœ… Back to my trusty combo. Chocolate chip yoghurt mixed with chocolate Futurelife Protein Cereal. Before making it, I was actually tempted to just have a shake instead. Not because I was hungry, but because I was tired. The flu has been playing games with me. One moment I think it's getting better, the next moment it feels like it's making a comeback πŸ˜… The shake was tempting because it would have been quick. Drink it, finish it, and go lie down for a bit. But I decided to stick to the plan. 🧠 I broke my fast at 11am today. I wasn't actually that hungry because I'd been drinking plenty of water throughout the morning. Just feeling a bit tired. Anyway, meal 1 done. Time to see what the rest of Day 4 has in store πŸ‘Š #Back2Health

Main meal of Day 3 βœ… (17:30) Cauliflower rice, vegetables, beef and a slice of sourdough bread. I'll be honest, before this meal I wasn't craving healthy food πŸ˜… I was craving a pizza. Or one of those burgers where you take a bite and it's so huge that you can speak. But I knew that wasn't actual hunger talking. It was cravings talking. Now let's talk about the beef...My wife made it and it was genuinely an 11/10. The cauliflower rice never stood a chance πŸ˜‚ I was trying to be all disciplined and focused on the healthy side of the plate, but every bite of that beef was reminding me where my attention should be. It was just so freaking good. One thing I've learned is that weight loss doesn't mean your food has to be miserable. In fact, I think the tastier you can make your meals, the better your chances of sticking to the plan long term. Just control those calories. Later in the evening/night, I had padel session with mates. It was semi-competitive and surprisingly I felt more energetic afterwards than before. Ended up coming home and doing another 15-20 minutes on the gym bike πŸ‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜† Looking back at the day, I think I may have overeaten a bit. Not massively, but enough to notice. The bigger concern for me is sleep. Because of padel, I'm probably only getting around 5 hours tonight instead of my usual target of 7. Padel does come with it's downsides. From previous weight-loss attempts, I've noticed sleep plays a massive role for me, so that will be something to watch tomorrow morning. Let's see what the scale thinks πŸ˜… Any of you people addicted to padel? #Back2Health

Day 2 of #Back2Health 103.2kg (227.5 lbs) this morning πŸ’ͺ I was actually nervous to step on the scale today. I didn't sleep well last night, and I've personally noticed a strong connection between good sleep and weight loss. Because of that, I wasn't expecting the number to move in the right direction. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised 😌 Down 1kg from yesterday. πŸ₯³ Of course, I'm not getting too excited just yet. I know a lot of this is likely water weight at this stage. Main meal of Day 2 βœ… πŸ₯© Beef πŸ₯• Mixed vegetables Beef is probably my favourite food, so this meal was never going to be a problem πŸ˜…. Picture is attached, very simple fillet seasoned with salt and pepper a garlic and herb seasoning. Delightful. The green beans though... not exactly one of my favourites. But if I only ate the vegetables I liked, I'd get tired of my meals too early. Also ended up having a biscuit or two with the wife later on. This is the advantage with intermittent fasting, we can have a guilt free snack with our meals. Just need to control the amounts. Overall, I'm still happy with how the day went. One thing I need to do better tomorrow is drink more water. I've been feeling a bit under the weather with the flu, and I definitely didn't drink as much as I normally would. One thing I've noticed from previous weight-loss attempts is that when I'm drinking enough water, I'm in and out of the toilet all day πŸ˜‚. This helps big time with weight loss, it comes out from the liquids, strangely πŸ˜†. That wasn't happening today, so that's a sign that I need to get more water in tomorrow. Not a perfect day, but a decent day. I'll take that. πŸ’ͺ #Back2Health

Meal 1 of Day 2 βœ… Eating one of my favourites: Vanilla yoghurt mixed with vanilla Futurelife Protein Cereal, yummmmyyy I've always been a sucker for vanilla-flavoured anything, so this one is an easy choice for me πŸ˜… What I really like about this yoghurt and protein cereal is how rich and thick it becomes. It takes me a while to get through it, which helps a lot because I don't just finish it in 2 minutes and immediately start looking for something else to eat. Very important when controlling calorie intake. Still sticking to my 16:8 fasting window and had this as my first meal of the day. Simple, filling, and something I actually enjoy eating. Can't get better ✨️ #Back2Health

That said, I'm still going to pat myself on the back for getting started and mostly sticking to the plan. That's something worth celebrating πŸ‘ Now to stay on track for day 2🀞 #Back2Health

Main meal of Day 1 βœ… πŸ— Chicken πŸ₯š Eggs πŸ₯• Mixed vegetables πŸ«“ Small piece of roti/chapati Nothing complicated. Just trying to eat more protein and vegetables and make better choices overall. (The side of veggies has become a favorite of mine, will explain another day though πŸ˜‰) Later evening I visited a friend and ended up having a brownie or two a chocolate (damn that goeey goodness) Would the perfect weight-loss journey avoid that? Probably. But #Back2Health isn't about being perfect. It's about making better decisions more often and staying consistent over time. Tomorrow we go again. πŸ’ͺ P.s. will give a end-of-day reflection tomorrow morning. Get that sleep in first 😴
