I'm no grappling guy but I do think the grappling of Umar is plannable - he's a backtake guy, and could see vs Sandhagen a way of preparing and getting around that. He's also another one of these guys who likes to waste time on top and not do very much imo.

Seems like their style of BJJ does not work for self defense or “in the streets”. The Gracie’s made a name for themselves and the art back in the day. A blue belt out grappled and ko’d a multiple time black belt world champion last night. Gi techniques do not work in Nogi. Some Nogi techniques do not work in mma. But not securing a simple white belt backtake is sloppy. We’ve been lied to about how effective pajama wrestling is. Buchecha is destroying the image of BJJ in mma. The round length doesn’t matter and didn’t stop Oliviera from dominating Holloway for 5 rounds. It’s time to realize BJJ isn’t the magic in mma it used to be. Long live submission wrestling.

Genuinely don't know how Van looks with someone who is a backtake specialist. We have Rei Tsuruya as maybe a parallel but he's not dangerous. Would know better if that Pantoja fight played out longer.
