🔥 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝗥𝗧 A 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 is a ventilation-driven explosion caused when superheated combustion gases ignite suddenly after oxygen enters a confined, fuel-rich, oxygen-depleted space. Firefighters must recognize potential backdrafts. The 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝗥𝗧 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 helps observe key indicators, enhancing situational awareness. A firefighting training facility using our Stripelight found that several key indicators of backdraft can be observed using the laser. 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁: Smoke escaping from cracks appears to “breathe” Yellow smoke Thick or oily smoke Doors or windows are hot to the touch but with little visible flame Pulsing or pressurized smoke Sudden inrush of air when a door is cracked open Hissing, whistling, or popping sounds inside the compartment While a typical LED single-beam flashlight can show 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, the Stripelight FRT’s 𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 combo reveals more indicators using its 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲. 🚒 Better visibility = better decisions and safer firefighting operations.
