I had a friend who was a nurse get GBS right after flu shot. Her doctor told her it was caused by the flu shot. Years to get better.
In my situation, my son, who was 12 yrs old at the time, was in for a football physical so the PA does a fresh urine test. He passed with flying colors. Negative for 10 things in a fresh urine test. Most importantly signs of glucose or ketones in his urine. I asked for his 7th grade shot only because I was getting letters in the mail and so I didn’t have to drive back again for another appointment. The cleared him for football first with “no abnormal findings”. Perfect health. Then administered TdAP and Menactra. That night stomachache, asking us what a heart attack feels like the next few days, throwing up, and a total of 43 days from shots he has a blood sugar of 614, in DKA, and tachycardia. Hmmmm perfect health 43 days earlier. So the doctor told us he would have tested in the average of 309 blood sugar on that urine test and she pointed out he was 100% NEGATIVE for ANY signs of diabetes. Then we put it all together that it was the vaccines given at the end of the appointment. It made me think why are we not doing baseline testing prior to vaccines? We ended up in vaccine court for 5 years. It is like no one wants to bring attention to implementating a vaccine safety measure that would require doctors to offer families the option of a fresh urine test or bloodwork to have in their child’s file. I have done interviews, wrote a bill and presented it at the Oregon Capital, etc. To me it is one of the most important pieces of vaccine safety. If you look closely at the current safety measures we have in place they walk around this. Dr./patient discussions is talking, VIS is a form is reading, and the V-Safe App is after vaccines. I feel like we seriously ignore one of the most needed vaccine safety measures out there. Baseline testing prior to all vaccines is needed.
