Read this from @laurenbetts12 last week. Honest. Real. Needed. And today, she is a national champion. A reminder that the story is never just about the moment we see. It is shaped in the quiet work, the setbacks, and the decision to keep going. Mental health is part of the work. Resilience is not just pushing through. It is having the courage to pause, reset, and come back stronger. Keep going. Just do not go alone. via @PlayersTribune theplayerstribune.com/lauren… #MentalHealth #Resilience #StudentAthlete #DoTheWork #BeUnRandom

On Super Bowl Sunday, it feels fitting to hear Tom Brady talk about his hero and his relationship with his dad. What stands out is not the trophies or the moments in the spotlight. It is the reminder that it does not happen immediately. And it does not happen through perfection. It happens because you did not give up. The real opportunity to make a difference shows up in the shadows far more than in the light. In the quiet work. In the days no one is watching. In the decision to keep showing up when it feels like it is not moving the needle. And then one day, often when you least expect it, you hear what you meant to someone. Not because you chased recognition. But because the work was done. So keep pressing in. Even when it feels unnoticed. Even when you wonder if it matters. It does. History is full of people offering conventional wisdom. It has rarely been the force that moved things forward. What bends the arc is curiosity paired with the courage to disrupt what no longer serves the moment. Innovation shows up everywhere. In how we lead. In what we build. In where our feet find us. When we yield the pen and give our time, our most honest currency, we allow others to help shape the story and change its direction. Progress belongs to those willing to press in, release control, and reach for what is possible rather than settle for what is familiar. #DadTalking #BeUnRandom #DoTheWork

‘hold fast’ I had a conversation this week with a mentee. It started simple and ended honest. They asked what some of my current challenges are. I always welcome those questions because they pull you out of the surface and into the truth. It brought me back to a simple reminder. Control what you can control. When you get news you did not want or face resistance you did not expect, frustration will not change the outcome. Sometimes the quiet part finally gets said out loud. And now you know. The question becomes, what will you do about it? It may not be fair. It may not look like what you planned. But it is real. And that is where resilience lives, in how you respond once reality shows its hand. I told them I would rather someone be honest and direct than polite with pretense. At least then you know what you are working with. As we talked, they asked how I handle moments like that. I said, two words. Hold fast. It is an old sailor’s phrase that means to grip the rope and stay steady when the storm comes. It is not about defiance. It is about discipline. It is about faith. You do not control the wind or the weather. You control your hands, your heart, and your heading. So you take it in, you adjust, and you move forward. The compass you carry has not changed. The waves might rise, the sky might darken, but the direction holds. That is life. That is leadership. That is learning. hold fast #DadTalking #DoTheWork #BeUnRandom #LeadFromWithin #GrowthMindset
