I’m a birthworker, after one of my clients delivered her baby, she was rehashing her decision re: vaccinating with me when the midwife piped up stating there are NO RISKS to vaccines so no harm done. I questioned her and she said that’s the data she’s read 🤯
After my first child was born the pediatrician came in to educate us on vaccines Immediately he brings up heavy metals: "Are you worried about the aluminum in vaccines? Because you should know your baby gets more aluminum from breast milk than they do from a vaccine" I didn't argue, but I did do my research A single vaccine contains between 0.125-0.85mg of aluminum In comparison breast milk contains between 0.01-0.05mg of aluminum per liter (34oz or about 4 cups), and infants drink between 16-32oz of breast milk per day So if we assume the lowest intake of milk and lowest aluminum level in that milk it would take about 25 days to reach the same 0.125mg in some vaccines If we assume the highest content in breast milk and that the baby drinks a full 32oz per day it takes more like 3-17 days to reach the level in a single dose of a vaccine (0.125-0.85) Sounds logical, right? The problem is the pediatrician was completely ignoring an important point, BIOAVAILABILITY Aluminum from breast milk has less than a 1% bioavailability, meanwhile the bioavailability of aluminum in vaccines approaches 100% absorption This means we need to take the number above and multiply it by 100x, it would take a year of 1 liter daily breast milk to even surpass the lowest aluminum content in vaccines, and with the current schedule MULTIPLE are stacked together in the first few days of life This is the kind of thing that frustrates me endlessly, I believe people should weigh risk/benefit and choose what they believe is best for their child, but twisting the facts to give a blatantly false impression ("you're giving your child more aluminum than a vaccine") is pure fear based manipulation There are examples of this being done to women and parents every single day in the medical system

i already blocked the other lady in the screenshots, a whole birthworker comparing a crush to incest

[qrt] comparing a crush on a friend’s partner to incest is fucking perverse and also not an equivalence ??!! i cannot believe you are a birthworker. scary times. 🙁
I don’t know what’s so hard to realize that extension of one’s friends, is a roadblock that does not allow for a path to attraction, similar* to that of family (for most healthy people) , age (for most healthy) race (for other) , sex(for some) and friend dynamic, not for you.

being an afro-indigenous birthworker in reproductive justice is still a demoralizing experience even when I'm not in medical spaces. even when I'm around people who look like me and claim to care about the same things tbh.

brother I don’t even fucking know. and as a birthworker to often have such a hostile response instead of valuing my input being up close to black families in similar situations because they wanna give the Cool Response… not even to center myself here but it’s so fucking annoying

people always ask how I know what I know and it’s literally from witnessing and intentionally processing other black people’s trauma as a birthworker.

I think it’s the evil pediatrician that performs the circ in hospitals, not the OB (I’m a birthworker against circ and just want your video to be correct)

if this can happen to a birthworker who advocates for others whats happening to lay people who have no experience w birthing and no support? this absolutely horrific and Black people need to come together to redefine birthwork and health/support OUR clinics, birthing centers, etc
this is terrifying????

I say "as a birthworker" because I see how the social programming for a human starts before they're even born. people project so many gendered expectations on a child as soon as their gender is revealed. girl or boy, 9/10 they're being primed to live in a patriarchy in utero.

as a birthworker, I feel called to say that pathologizing gender to understand the patriarchy without acknowledging the sociocultural conditioning (and spiritual/religious attacks) that contribute to a collective's conception of "Manhood" (and in turn informs the model Patriarch) is not great for humanity either. gender bioessentialism doesn't allow any room for re-education, introspection, or healing (even if only implemented for future generations). and if those are totally off the table, it doesn't matter if a society becomes a matriarchy - it's still an inherently misanthropic and victimizing ideology. "male leadership" is not inherently bad because it does not only have to exist within a patriarchy. just like there have been plenty of women leaders who are bad. the system their power is functioning in matters.

birthworker here! most of my clients are 35 and having amazing birth outcomes but it comes with work; understanding your partner’s bodies, establishing community, educating yourself on possible outcomes, understanding the importance of postpartum prep etc
Are there any women on here that had a healthy pregnancy/birth 35 years old? I'm looking for hope for myself.🤞

Please! As a birthworker my child, who has wanted to be an only child since forever, is acutely aware and has requested a sibling in 10 years. She also knows about bodily autonomy, so knows the answer... is now mixed 😳😫 but yeah my mom had her last kid at 42. And that's young.

I hate how judgmental people are. Being a birthworker, I have worked with sooooooo many diff families and you genuinely do not know people’s situations or what resources they know are available to them
